A scholarship grant agreement has been signed between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Labor and Skills Development.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education, Labor and Skills Development by the Minister, Dr. Ismail Shafeeu. Resident Representative Motoo Taki signed on behalf of JICA.
Under this agreement, a grant total of 152,000,000 (one hundred and fifty-two million) Japanese Yen will be provided to the Maldivian government. The primary objective of this grant is to provide higher education and training opportunities for public sector employees in the Maldives under JICA’s Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS).
Under the JDS project, a total of 36 opportunities have been provided to Maldivians to pursue postgraduate programs at Japanese universities over the past 6 years since 2020.
