The 8th International Teachers’ Conference began today with a special opening ceremony held at Shaheed Ali School, inaugurated by Vice President of the Maldives Uz. Hussain Mohamed Latheef.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony, the Vice President highlighted that the nation’s greatest strength lies in its people, noting that few professions carry a greater responsibility than teaching. He further emphasized that the National Curriculum reflects this responsibility by preparing students not only for examinations, but also for life beyond the classroom.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Reimagining, Rethinking, Reforming – Advancing Innovation for an Equitable and Resilient Future.”
A total of 300 participants have registered for this year’s conference, which will feature 70 research papers, four case studies, two keynote speeches and two panel discussions.
Since 2012, the National Institute of Education (NIE) has been conducting the International Teachers’ Conference with the aim of fostering a culture of research among teachers and education professionals in the Maldives. Held biennially, the conference provides educators with an opportunity to reflect on their role in shaping education in the Maldives and globally, while rethinking teaching and learning practices in response to the evolving needs of the industry.
